The U.S. Division of Vitality’s Water Energy Applied sciences Workplace (WPTO) final week introduced the 36 groups chosen to take part within the 2025 Hydropower Collegiate Competitors (HCC) and Marine Vitality Collegiate Competitors (MECC), the most important cohort of groups so far. These annual competitions interact and educate college students about real-world challenges going through these sectors and the various profession alternatives in water energy with the objective of encouraging the subsequent era to hitch the hydropower and marine vitality workforces.

Hydropower Collegiate Competitors
In the course of the 2025 HCC, groups will develop options to transform non-powered dams to hydroelectric dams that may produce between 100 kilowatts and 10 megawatts of energy or assess the feasibility of a possible closed-loop pumped storage hydropower website that may present between 8 and 24 hours of vitality storage. Every crew shall be assigned a marine vitality mentor and compete in 4 challenges.
