Low SWAP-C UAS Payload to Improve Replicator Initiative

MatrixSpace has been awarded a $1.25 million Direct-to-Part II SBIR contract by AFWERX to develop a low SWaP-C (Dimension, Weight, Energy, and Price) multi-function, multi-band antenna payload. This new challenge, based mostly on the MatrixSpace Radar {hardware} platform, goals to deal with key challenges throughout the Division of the Air Power (DAF) and help the Replicator initiative. MatrixSpace Radar, designed and developed within the USA, offers strong situational consciousness of each airborne and ground-based objects beneath varied lighting and climate situations. This know-how helps correct drone detection, Counter Unmanned Plane System (CUAS) capabilities, Past Visible Line of Sight (BVLOS) operations for uncrewed, autonomous, and tethered plane, and enhances normal airspace consciousness and safety.

The Air Power Analysis Laboratory and AFWERX have streamlined the Small Enterprise Innovation Analysis (SBIR) and Small Enterprise Expertise Switch (STTR) processes, aiming for quicker proposal-to-award timelines. These modifications are meant to develop alternatives for small companies and cut back bureaucratic overhead.

Since its inception in 2018, the DAF’s Open Matter SBIR/STTR program has funded a wider vary of improvements, together with these proposed by small companies like MatrixSpace. This initiative aligns with the broader targets of enhancing army capabilities and supporting the event of superior applied sciences.

The challenge’s growth and testing of low SWaP-C payloads for uncrewed aerial methods underscore MatrixSpace’s dedication to advancing army know-how and supporting nationwide protection initiatives.
